The bible says, that during baptism, we receive
the gift of the Holy Spirit, which will live in our hearts forever.
It is our gift from God, and another reason why baptism is
important.
The gift of the Holy Spirit, symbolizes God within
us. It is the voice that we listen to, to guide us, direct us, and
the voice that helps us to decide right from wrong.
Baptism is an outward act, that symbolizes we have
accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior.
Baptism can take place in a church, or a lake, but
most always it is done in a group setting. Many get baptized at the
same time, with prayers before and after, friends, family and a
celebration are normally part of being Baptized.
A baptized person is making a commitment to the
Lord, and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit, why not celebrate?
Why is Baptism important?
Being immersed in water, symbolizes that all of
our sins, have been washed away, and we are cleansed in the eyes of
God. It is our start, if you will, of our lives taking a path that
represents, to the best of our ability, a more Christ like walk.
Often times you will hear, “Down with the old, and
up with the new.” What people mean when they say that is, the old
ways are gone and new ways are now taking place. There is a
conscience effort to lose all ways that are not in line with the
Word, that do not bring joy to the Lord, and the new life begins of
trying to imitate the life of Christ, in ourselves.
There is no guarantee that baptism will make life
easier, or that it promises us salvation. It is simply a process,
Christians and or believers go through in order to proclaim their
new life, and to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Some people believe that babies should be baptized
at an early age. Belief is that the child will then be free from
original sin.
Other people choose to wait to become baptized
when they can make their own mind up as to when they want to accept
Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Why is baptism important?
As believers of Christ, we want everything we can
get from the Lord. We want His direction, His wisdom, His guidance.
We want to be as close to Him as possible. We want to be able to
talk to Him, and hear His answers.
He promised us He would never leave us, that He
would always be close….
How about as close as our own beating heart?
For that is exactly where He is….
if we are baptized.
That, my friend,
is
the importance of Baptism.
